The Argan Tree, Argania spinosa from Sapotaceae family and grows only in Morocco. The trees can live from 150-200 years. For centuries traditional cosmetic products produced from Argania spinosa have been a well kept secret known only to Berber women in Morocco. Argan oil is believed to be one of the rarest oils in the world. To produce Argan oil for cosmetic use, freshly harvested kernels from the fruit of the Argan tree are pressed and filtered through an organic cotton sieve, to extract the aromatic oil. The Argan oil is easily absorbed by the skin. This form of Argan oil is used for the treatment of dermatologic disease (acne, etc). Argan oil extracted by this method is used in Aromatherapy. In Europe, Argan oil has been used in the Aromatherapy industry for a long time, but for some reason it is not well known in the United States and is unavailable in retail stores. Argan oil has almost twice as much vitamin E or a-tocopherol as olive oil and it is much richer in linoleic acids. Its anti-ageing properties, due to high levels of vitamin E and saponins (which soften the skin), are well documented. Tocopherols are very important to human health because of their anti-oxidant actions and free radical scavenger affects. In traditional Moroccan medicine, Argan oil is used for the care of the body and face to counteract the effects of age or weather.
100% Raw Organic Argan Oil 100 ml review
I’ve been looking a while now for something to put on my face at night to prevent wrinkles, soothe skin, even out tone, etc. I bought several very expensive creams and serums and nothing has worked this well! o begin with, this particular company does a great job packaging the oil. It is cold pressed and sealed in a dark colored bottle (temp elevations and UV light will degrade oils and ruin their antioxidant capabilities). I actually store mine in the fridge and wrap in aluminum foil to be safe. Also, the price is the most fair on Amazon (100ml is about 3.5oz) and that amount will last several months.
I use it all over. Either I mix it with a little bit of my moisturizer to help it go on more easily, or into my body lotion. I was really skeptical about using it on my face, but it definitely healed some recent acne marks and it got rid of the dark circles under my eyes (this is all in the first week of use!) I’ve had those dark circles since I can remember and not even the best under eye creams have done so much work in such a little amount of time.
And you can feel good about using it because argan oil is extracted by womens’ co-ops and the trees they use are now protected by environmental agencies. You’re supporting the environment and the economy
P.S. I noticed some people commenting on the smell…yes, it has a faint nutty/pungent odor that I actually find pleasant. But it wears away after just a few minutes.
