Lanolin is a natural oil derived entirely from the fiber of sheeps wool. It is secreted from the skin of sheep and becomes trapped in the sheep’s wool, giving protection from rain and moisture. This natural secretion is very close to the natural oils we secrete from our own skin. Lanolin is considered a “heavy duty” moisturizer and emolient that can be used on rough, chapped skin, similar to petroleum jelly. Promotes the smoothness and translucency associated with healthy, youthful skin.

Because it doesn’t smell. It’s almost hard to describe it, but it doesn’t smell like a barn yard as one person stated. IMHO. It has an amber colour and a light odor. If you like just add a few drops of your favorite oil when using it. The texture is thick like a soft wax [think ear wax not candle wax],so a little goes a long way. I just ordered mine on August 22nd, 2009 and got it August 26th, 2009. I’ve been using it in place of petroleum jelly since that’s not good for your skin at all. I mix it with pure Jojoba oil and rub it into my feet/hands and I then wear cotton gloves/socks at bedtime and come the morning they’re very soft.
